Hi all,

Congratulations!

Thanks to help of Texas Instruments guys, eventually we’ve released a new version of our infrared engine, which can work on Windows Mobile devices with OMAP 850 processor inside.

The list of newly supported devices is too long to name all of them here: Qtek 9100, qtek s200, Dopod 818, HTC Cingular 8125, T-Mobile MDA Vario, and many others.

Please download the new version 4.0 (build 2006.06.18c, IRv27) from this post and let us know how it works.

have started trial period on my QTek 9100 (wizard) with interesting results. having tested only 3 devices & have found the usable distance varies.

- speakers / amp is about 1m usable distance.
- dvd player is about 2m usable distance.
- projector about 2m usable distance.

both speakers & dvd are situated right next to each other.

will keep adding devices to see if it makes a difference.

is there a way to increase my usable distance? "check for incoming beams" is off in Settings / Beam.

also noticed that if i try using learning feature in Single mode (not double) it locks the device and have to soft reset. I could only program in Double mode. Anyone else have this problem? Does using Single or Double effect my usable distance?

Hi,

I've tried to install this on my Orange SPV M600, but it refuses to install as it is not "Officially Signed" or something like that, so I am afraid I still cant evaluate this software Sad

Edit - scratch that... did a hard reset on my device, and managed to get my Sky box working at about 3 metres distance. Nice! Just need to get the TV / DVD / Video working and I'll be laughing. I will post back any more success I get at a later date.

wow! Great range on an 8125. Works from across the room. I wasn't expecting this!

Is there a way to make hard buttons selectable by codebase btw? It looks like these can only be set globally....

Hello,
I have a TMOBILE MDA, US version. I have a DELL LCD TV and a Dish Network HDTV Satelite box.
Fo the universal remote that came with the Dish box, I had to select Philips as the code base, so I did the same with NoviiRemote Deluxe.
So now, I can teach the phone a few new tricks BUT, it works only if I am 2-3 inches from the TV IR receiver.
I may be confused or did not have the correct code base? I could get only one Philips choice from the standard list. Are they more Philips code base out there for my specific situation?
BTY, As many others I also had to teach the phone by using Double mode...
I would like very much that thing to work.
Thanks,
Philippe Question

I also have an 8125. How are you getting such great distance? My has to be close to the IR reciever on my tv and dish network to work. Did you do anything special?

Thanks Question

Press and hold button firmly on phone. I reckon I have at least 2.5 metres.

Yes, you can assign hard buttons for each codebase separately. Just choose proper codebase from the list in Hard Buttons form.

You can try to find more Philips codebases in 500+ codebases in NoviiRemote Classic Codebases sub-forum. Then you need import those codebases into Deluxe format.

Sorry, I'm not making myself very understandable here... Embarassed

I'm actually wondering if the same hard button can be assigned to functions in multiple codebases. This would allow me to map center key to on/off if my tv codebase was active. Likewise, I could choose to map center key to on/off (or perhaps something different) for my DVD codebase if it was active. It looks like once a key is mapped to a codebase function then it will only work for that codebase.

edit:

Also I have uncovered what may be a small bug. If you choose add new device then Create new codebase and learn it (choose a skin and desired pattern). Then in step 4 (where you enter the name) you choose "Check the box if you wish to learn the codebase just now" and press finish. Now if you touch a button, the learning information screen is displayed, but the device doesn't recognize codes. In fact, it is locked up here and a will not terminate after 20 seconds. A soft reset is required to fix. After the reset, the new codebase is there and all learning functions work normally.

@dm boy

My 8125's IR emitter is extremely directional. Maybe this is your problem? To work across the room (about 4m) I need to be sitting directly in front of my TV and aim my 8125 right at it's IR pickup

Any chance of being able to install it directly on the device as opposed to going through the PC?

As your PDA does not have any stylus, unfortunately it is impossible to use NoviiRemote with it. Maybe we'll release a version for such devices in the future.

Yes, you can assign the same hard button to function in multiply codebases.

Please contact us at service@novii.com and we'll send you CAB file for the program, so you'll be able to install it directly to your PPC.

Thanks for the answer on the hard buttons Ksenia! I'll puzzle my way through it (although for the moment, the actual technique eludes me). I'm off to read through the tutorials now!

edit:

Found it! "Current Codebase" setting is the key!

I have installed it on An MDA Vario and it worked great ...... for a few times.

Now if I try to launch it, the screen rotates right, as it should, but the buttons do not appear.

I have tried to uninstall it but it does not appear in the remove program list.

If I remove the Novii folder from the storage card and try to reinstall, it says it is already installed and refuses.

It is all still within the 10 day trial period.

Any thoughts?

Unfortunately the first time I tried this application (a few weeks back), it was not working with OMAP devices. Now when I try this version, it won't launch because I have surpassed the 10 day trial period. Is there any way I can reset this for another 10 days so I may try it? If I buy the incompatible version and then load this trial version, will it too expire?

Hi all. I try to reinstall this program. The uninstallation was not correct. I did it from PPC (Qtek 9100), not from PC. Then I tried to install it again. But it said that could not be install on the device. Then I tried to delete program manually. But there was no result. Please, clarify how to reinstall the program correctly.

When updated from lower version, the software cannot be uninstall properly. In this case, you need delete manually the ndrwakeup.exe in Windows fold.

Another problem. If the program ran once and exited, reruning of the program cannot send IR signal after wakeing up the PPC from hibernation. I have to restart the PPC or use "Beam" to activate the IR.

Please try different options for COM port.

Just launch the IR Setup form and tune the infrared port manually. It could help.

The IR setup form contains a list of COM-ports available on your Pocket PC. This menu usually looks as follows:

COM1: Serial Cable on COM1
COM2: IrDA Connection
COM3: Infrared Port
COM4: Serial Cable on Bluetooth
COM9: Serial on USB

Just select another COM port from the list of available ports, press the OK button, and check again if NoviiRemote Deluxe software works properly. Try all the ports on the list until you find the correct one.

TIP: Usually USB and Bluetooth related COM-ports do not suit the needs of NoviiRemote.

same problem here on my 8125. No manual setting of IR port makes it work. It takes a reset to fix. This is also why I was hanging up during IR learn mode btw.

On my 8125 I get:

COM0:
COM1: Serial Port
COM2:
COM3: Infrared Port
COM4: Infrared Port
COM9:

When its working, IR works on COM2, COM3, COM4. Autodetect selects COM2:

After hibernate mode (press on/off button) none of these ports work until the device is reset.

HTH!

works great on my 8125 (I am running an updated rom though - the one that supports stereo audio over bluetooth-maybe thats the diff as it has alot of other changes as well I believe)
only bug I have found is when you are learning the buttons and you open keyboard to type name you want of the button, then when you close it seems to reverse the screen size to verticle and you can't get it right again without a soft reset.
but thats only in programing mode so its not a big problem

We'll try to fix this problem with screen orientation in programming mode as soon as possible.

At present to turn the program to landscape mode again, you need open menu/preferences/flip screen form, do not change anything there and just tap ok button, and the program will switch to landscape mode again (it works on our Qtek 9100).

I mapped the rotation to PDA hard button 2 (origionally for PIE), the problem can be easily passed.

Ksenia, i want to move back to the subject of qtek 8310. As you said - there is no stylus with it, and you're right. But there are some programs that emulate the stylus. Such way, for example, i can use PPC version of skype (there is no version for smatrphone). May be you can work with Your NoviiRemote PPC version a little and release a beta version wich could, at least, being installed to our smartphones, and we'll try to use it with stylus emulaors. Our community (qtek 83x0 owners) is big enough, much people will be happy to use your programm. Also we can help with testing the program.

Best regard and thank You very much!
Waiting for Your positive answer! Smile
Alexander.

Nice work Smile
Getting different results on my vario, Amstrad digibox for Sky TV will only work at about 1mtr also only certain commands appear to work properly ie menu and on/off
Similar applies to the TV which is a Humax 17" LCD with freeview digibox built in to it.

Keep up the good work

Works well on the Universal (JasJAr) over distance.
As with the Vario I think I need to relearn the buttons as some work and others do not.

There is a display bug on exiting the app.
If you press the x in the top corner the screen becomes corrupt and you still have part of the remote screen over the task bar or at the bottom of the display.

If you exit via Menu then this does not happen.

Found this on both the JasJar and Vario

@Ksenia:

On the hibernate disables IR issue, I've verified the fact that turning on beam receive fixes the problem. However, this workaround is less than optimal because it drains the battery on my 8125 (HTC Wizard). Perhaps you can set a device wakup event notification in NoviiRemote to re-enable IR on wakeup? This would provide a quick and simple solution to this issue as the problem only appears to occur if Novii is running in the background when the device is placed into standby mode.

edit: hmmm... it might not be this simple. I've turned off beam receive again and now I can't make it fail....

I can't get it to load on a Cingular 8125. I get an error Novii NR Deluxe cannot be installed. Try installing again in a different location. I have plenty of room on the device and storage card, but neither location works. HELP...Please
